  • Position Remuneration: Level 5.1 pro-rata ($90,851 base annual salary) / ($103,123 total remuneration package which is based on a permanent full-time employee and inclusive of 12% employer superannuation and 17.5% leave loading).

About YouAs the Sports Liaison Officer, you will have significant experience working with sporting clubs, community groups and organisations in a similar environment.You will have demonstrated community engagement and project management experience, as well as experience in identifying community needs utilising demographic data and profiles.Further but not limited to, you will possess the knowledge of relevant government policy and funding programs and the demonstrated ability to identify and secure funding to improve community outcomes.The position’s focus will be:

  • Work with community, government departments, commercial operators and not for profit organisations in the Noosa Shire to implement the Noosa Sport and Active Recreation Plan.
  • Engage with Councillors, community leaders, government departments and not for profit organisations to research, identify, prioritise, plan and coordinate various sport and recreation initiatives, partnerships and plans across the Shire.
  • Provide advice and assistance to sport and recreation organisations and individuals in accessing services and grants programs offered by Council and external agencies.
  • Research social and community trends and needs in order to provide strategic advice to Council and to inform the development, implementation and review of Council’s social policies particularly those relating to sport and recreation.
  • Participate, in regional, inter-governmental, cross Council and community planning networks and, where appropriate, maximise the opportunities for cooperation, partnerships and promoting key sport and recreation initiatives.
  • Contribute to the provision of reports and recommendations for Council’s consideration on relevant sport and recreation issues.
  • Facilitate the activation of Council owned sport and recreation infrastructure.
  • Manage Council’s asset maintenance and relationship responsibilities for the Bicentennial Centre and Montessori school.
  • Negotiate sport and recreation tenure arrangements between community groups and Council.
  • Act as a liaison point within Council for sport and recreation organisations and assist with their long-term sustainability and financial viability.
  • Research, identify and apply for external grant opportunities for Council for improved sport and recreation outcomes.
  • Such other relevant duties as required from time to time which would generally fall within the scope of this position.
