SWSLHD Safe Wayz program has an exciting opportunity for an Aboriginal and or Torres Strait Islander Clinician to bring their expertise and join a collaborative and professional team.SWSLHD operates it’s services on the lands of the Dharawal, Darug, and Gundungurra lands and has a rich history of working alongside local Aboriginal communities and our districts Aboriginal Health Unit. We are a district that is committed to supporting you grow and develop your skills. You will be provided with cultural supervision, participate in cultural strengths mapping and form part of a larger, supportive Aboriginal workforce.The Safe Wayz program sits within the broader IPARAVAN team supporting children under 10 years of age who have displayed problematic or harmful sexual behaviours, their families and communities through external relationship building, community liaison, education, prevention initiatives, early support responses and specialist clinical services.This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of an innovative program. You will have the chance to influence and shape the way the program works to deliver culturally responsive and reflective practice. A portion of this role is dedicated to supporting and nurturing the practice and skills of professionals such as clinicians working with children to deliver culturally responsive services to the Aboriginal communities you will work with.The role will be primarily located at Hoxton Park Community Health Centre with some travel around the district due to the education and community engagement aspect of the role.What You’ll be Doing

We are a district that is committed to supporting you grow and develop your skills.The Sexual Assault Service has an opportunity for a Female Sexual Assault worker who will provide therapeutic responses to children, adults, families and groups (all ages and genders). This includes leading therapeutic practices in both individual and group settings. You will be provided with professional development opportunities, cultural supervision, opportunities to participate in cultural strengths mapping and you will be part of a larger, supportive Aboriginal workforce.This position will have a professional development plan in place that will provide the opportunity for work based development which allows for progression through the Award levels in accordance with the incumbent’s skill acquisition.Where You’ll Be Working

  • Degree in Social Work, Psychology or other relevant counselling degree deemed appropriate by employer or completion in in the ECAV pathway, with demonstrated cultural expertise.
  • Demonstrated ability to create Aboriginal community connections, engagement and collaboration to affect outcomes with an understanding of intergenerational trauma, child sexual abuse and the principles of family focused intervention with the ability to engage with young people who have sexually harmed and with their families.
  • Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills in combination with a demonstrated ability to work as part of a small therapeutic team.
  • Demonstrated experience participating in and/or leading of quality improvement activities and service development and evaluation.
  • Demonstrated commitment to clinical and cultural supervision and professional education and if relevant to application, experience providing clinical supervision and leading education and teaching to staff and/or students.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide culturally responsive counselling services to individuals, and their families and an understanding of the legal and policy framework governing child protection in NSW relevant to.
  • Accreditation or willingness to undertake accreditation with the Child Sex Offender Counsellor Accreditation Scheme administered by the NSW Children’s Guardian and maintain this.
  • Must possess a valid Australian Drivers Licence (excluding learner driver’s licences). If not already in possession, a NSW Drivers Licence must be obtained within 3 months of appointment and willingness to travel in the course of employment.
