The Senior Finance Officer plays a crucial role within the team structure, reporting to the Team Leader Budgeting and Reporting Operating. The Senior Finance Officer provides high quality budget management services, provides advice to key stakeholders pertaining to budget management and contributes to the development of new approaches to budget management.The Senior Finance Officer will provide financial reporting services, contribute to the development of new approaches to corporate reporting and engage in broader continuous improvement. As well as, contribute to compliance of the finance function within Accounting Standards and Treasury Guidelines.Responsibilities include motivating and mentoring staff, resolving complex issues with innovative solutions, conducting critical research and analysis, and providing policy input and advice. The role demands effective management of sensitive information, complex consultation processes with stakeholders, and coordination across government agencies to achieve the agency’s objectives and ensure the efficient operation of divisional budgets.About You

Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience are desirable.Significant knowledge of government policy and agency procedures.Accreditation with a relevant accounting body such as the CPA or CA will be viewed favourably.Special Conditions
A National Police Check (NPC) is required prior to employment in the Department for Infrastructure and Transport which must be renewed every three years.Some out of hours and weekend work, along with some intra/interstate travel requiring overnight stays, may be required.Tenure of Vacancy
