Senior Communications & Engagement Adviser

The RoleReporting directly to the Victorian Small Business Commissioner (Commissioner), you will have the opportunity to work closely with a respected and transformative agency head in shaping the communications and advocacy work of the VSBC. This is an ideal role for a communications expert who is skilled in stakeholder engagement and has the confidence to work independently and is looking to take the next step in their career.The responsibilities of the Senior Communications and Engagement Adviser will include:
- Increasing engagement through the smart use of social media including LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube.
- Website management (including content updates and enhancements) informed by Google Analytics 4 and with experience and comfort in the use of WordPress content management system highly regarded.
- Media monitoring and media liaison directly with editors and journalists across all mediums.
- Excellent skills in developing communication collateral – from Commissioner’s blogs, briefs, speeches and presentations through to media releases, eDMs, web copy, fact sheets and annual reports to ensure that the messaging lands and is consistent with the VSBC brand.
The TeamThe position of Senior Communications & Engagement Adviser forms a part of the Victorian Small Business Commission. The Victorian Small Business Commission (VSBC) is an independent agency led by the Victorian Small Business Commissioner (Commissioner) that aims to ensure a fair and competitive environment in which small businesses can grow and thrive.About YouThe successful candidate will ideally have the following skills and experience:
- Outstanding communication skills including experience producing tailored and impactful communication materials for broad audiences and the ability to work collaboratively with influence directly with key stakeholders to secure better outcomes for small businesses.
- A passion and demonstrated experience for developing engaging content for a high-profile website and social media channels. This includes communicating legislation in a way that everyone can understand.
- Demonstrated contract management skills and procurement experience (preferably – but not essential – within a government context).
- An enthusiasm and willingness to work independently including the confidence, capability and enthusiasm to work with senior leaders across industry, government and the media.
- A relevant tertiary degree in communications/media (or similar) is required. Candidates must have these qualifications to be considered eligible and verification is required prior to appointment.
