One that is equitable and prioritises learning and wellbeing.Together we will make our education system the best it can be.When our children and young people thrive, so do our communities and our state.About the role:The Learning and Teaching Directorate is responsible for leading the delivery of contemporary and contextualised learning design pedagogy and assessment practice, to improve the capability of teachers to design meaningful and challenging learning in their local context.The Assistant Director, Curriculum, Pedagogy and Assessment R-6, is responsible for supporting the Director, Learning and Teaching in the strategic planning, prioritisation and execution of state-wide, strategic and systematic initiatives to facilitate measurable improvements for all learners. The role requires the incumbent to determine operational requirements for, and manage the design planning and implementation of, effective education practices.Key responsibilities are:

  • co-designing a comprehensive plan to build the capability of teachers to design learning; curriculum, pedagogy and assessment in their local context
  • high quality systematic external and internal stakeholder engagement
  • collaborating with academic partners and experts in the development of guidance, tools, and resources informed by research and innovation
  • co-designing pedagogical guidance and resources with classroom teachers, curriculum leaders and principals
  • managing the directorates contribution to the Areas of Impact and other key departmental strategies and programs.

Essential qualifications and competencies:

  • An appropriate tertiary qualification including post-graduate qualifications in an appropriate discipline desirable or relevant experience.
  • Experience leading in a large and complex organisation at an executive level, ensuring the translation of priorities into executed deliverables.

Special Conditions:The successful applicant is required to gain a Department for Human Services (DHS) working with children check (WWCC) prior to being employed which is required to be renewed every five years before expiry.
