About the role:Victoria Police Academy’s Physical Training Unit is seeking 2 ongoing part time (25 hrs a fortnight) Lifeguard/Pool Attendants.One of your core duties will be supervising swimming sessions being undertaken by police recruits in support of the Police Foundation Training Program.As the single Lifeguard/Pool Attendant on duty at any given time, in addition to supervision of swimmers, you will be required to conduct daily water quality testing; address water quality issues by safely adding applicable chemicals in compliance with Occupational Health and Safety processes; record and report and maintenance issues; maintain records of injuries, incidents and complaints; notify management of any significant issues, including recommending pool closures due to water quality issues.Victoria Police is a contemporary and agile workplace and supports flexible working arrangements. Due to the nature of this role, working from home applications cannot be accommodated.Your duties will include:
- Lifeguard supervision of police recruit swim classes and casual patrons
- Safe operation of a 50-metre swimming pool, including equipment maintenance and water quality processes
- Plant operations, including chlorination procedures
- Application and enforcement of Occupational Health & Safety principles as they relate to the workplace
As the successful applicant, you will have:
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to work productively and safely with little to no supervision
- A current Lifesaving Victoria (or equivalent) Pool Lifeguard qualification
- A current Level II First Aid Certificate (including CPR refresher training every 12 months)
Requirements and relevant information:
- 2 x ongoing, part-time positions available (0.33 FTE or 25 hours per fortnight). Hours of duty are from 2pm to 7pm, rotating 3 weekday afternoons one week and 2 weekday afternoons the following week.
- If the position/s is part time, the salary plus superannuation will be pro rata
- This position is located at Victoria Police Academy, 1 View Mount Road, Glen Waverley.
- This position requires shift work as indicated in the Position Description (as attached to the advertisement).
