Join us as our Build to Rent Operations ManagerOur Build to Rent strategy is a core component of our global investment-led approach, and we’re looking for someone to lead the development and execution of our operations strategy for this new asset class in Australia.This newly created role presents a significant opportunity to grow, scale, and operationalize our Build to Rent proposition in the region.As the BTR Operations Manager, you’ll have a highly visible role, influencing and shaping the vision and future direction of our BTR portfolio.Join us and be part of a team that’s dedicated to delivering exceptional living experiences for our residents.We are flexible for this role to be based out of either Sydney or MelbourneAbout the roleAs our Build to Rent Operations Manager, you’ll play a critical role in the build out of our BTR operating plan, with a focus on driving the growth and performance of the portfolio. With the practical completion of our initial two BTR assets targeted for the end of 2025, it’s an exciting time to join us on this journey.We are seeking an innovative and visionary operations leader who can take the developed customer service philosophy and business strategy and operationalise this into a successful offering for current and prospective residents. You’ll drive the implementation of the Build to Rent property management platform and take a key role in assessing and recommending the preferred property management approach, including the assessment of external service providers.You’ll work closely with our Fund Managers, Investment Managers and Development teams on existing and prospective assets, delivering input into the design of our buildings and setting benchmarks for outperformance in property management that will deliver outstanding service for residents.You’ll also have accountability over several Strategic, Operational and People initiatives including but not limited to.Effective development and delivery of BTR operational strategy and support of the origination strategy for the acquisition of new assets.Resourcing the property management BTR team structurally and managing the team performance (whether insource or outsourced), ensuring processes, procedures, tools, documents, communication, implementation plans for new programmes are in place and meet and are best in class and reviewed in line with changing legislation.Ensuring our communities are managed with safety and sustainability at the forefront of your mind, executing on the asset, community and business strategy for safety and sustainability.Creating, managing, and exceeding approved property management budgets for the Build to Rent portfolio, delivering financial targets, exceeding business metrics while ensuring timely and accurate reporting.Develops annual strategic asset plans and capital and operating budgets.Implementing and maintaining an appropriate assurance framework to ensure the property management is performing in accordance with Lendlease’s policies, standards, and procedures.Accountable and responsible for providing leadership, coaching and development to the BTR Operations team to ensure results are delivered.The skills you’ll need.To succeed in role, you’ll have significant experience in a senior operations management role within the multi-site property management or similar, with at least 5-7 years Build to Rent sector experience. This will be coupled with a good understanding of Australian legislation relating to tenanted property and buildings management.Our ideal candidate will also have a proven track record in building, scaling, and operationalising a business unit/portfolio. As well as demonstrated experience in effectively utilising their people, financial, legal, and general business management skills and acumen to develop strategy, organisational design, and provide direction and influence across the organization.You’ll also have:Degree qualified in Real Estate or Business Management, or equivalent time served experience.Knowledge of build to rent (multifamily) property management and / or a revenue, rate, occupancy business with complex operational expenses and accountability for multi-site Net Operating Income.Strong Financial acumen, with experience of budget management (creating and managing)Excellent written and verbal communication skills – including presentations and face to face communications.Experience in identifying opportunities to drive operational excellence through digital/technology solutions.Nice to have/Desirable additional experience.Global Build to Rent experience would be highly advantageous (UK/US)Additional InformationAt Lendlease our investment professionals manage approximately $48 billion globally in property assets across a variety of sectors including office, retail, industrial, built-to-rent, innovation precincts and more.
