This role focuses on ensuring the proper tracking, documentation, and optimisation of hardware, software, and other IT assets, as well as maintaining configuration data to support efficient and effective IT operations.The Configuration and Asset Analyst plays a critical role in enabling proper asset utilisation, minimising risks, and supporting compliance with industry standards and organisational policies.
Detailed DescriptionConfiguration and Asset Analyst will have:

  • Demonstrated proficiency in IT asset management practices, including asset lifecycle management, procurement, documentation, and inventory tracking.
  • Strong understanding of configuration management principles and experience in maintaining accurate and up-to-date configuration data for IT systems and components.
  • Familiarity with service management processes and the typical ways to use accurate configuration data to support service delivery.
  • A meticulous approach to documentation, data entry, and record-keeping to ensure accurate and comprehensive asset and configuration records.
  • Ability to identify and troubleshoot discrepancies in asset and configuration data, and implement corrective measures to maintain data integrity.
  • Proficiency in analysing asset utilisation data and generating meaningful insights to support decision-making and resource planning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all asset and configuration data is accurately recorded and organised in a centralised repository for easy access and retrieval.
  • Manage configuration data for IT systems, applications, devices, and network components to facilitate efficient troubleshooting and change management.
  • Regularly update and reconcile the IT asset inventory, ensuring that assets are correctly categorised, tagged, and accounted for.
  • Support, advise and collaborate with IT teams to ensure they effectively leverage the accurate and current configuration data in their work such as, assisting in the evaluation and approval of proposed changes, inform root cause analysis and more.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve asset management and configuration practices, identifying opportunities for automation, streamlining, and optimisation.
  • Work closely with IT teams, procurement, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure proper alignment between asset management and configuration practices and organisational objectives.
