  • Advise State Agencies and Instrumentalities in relation to complex and critical legal matters.
  • Undertake comprehensive legal research in an efficient manner.
  • Act as Solicitor and Counsel in constitutional matters; and in such other matters as directed by the Solicitor-General before any Commonwealth or State Court, Tribunal or Board.
  • Prepare and present legal education seminars to professional audiences on a broad range of legal topics.
  • To provide professional supervision to all junior legal practitioners in the Office of the Solicitor General including guiding, mentoring, coaching and performance management.
  • Assist the Solicitor-General as required.

Essential Requirements

  • Admitted or eligible for immediate admission as a Barrister or Practitioner of the Supreme Court of Tasmania.

Desirable Requirements

  • At least 7 years’ experience in legal practice relevant to the duties of the position.
