Learn more about our in our .Job Summary:In this role, you will conduct field investigations and client interviews to determine work scope and cost estimates for a project’s civil / structural aspects.You will lead design, development, modification, evaluation, and constructability reviews of civil/structural components and processes.Your technical expertise will ensure the unique and complex requirements of a project’s civil/structural aspects are met.Major Responsibilities:

• Plans, schedules, conducts, or coordinates detailed phases of the civil/structural engineering work for a global business unit, a project or staff group to include the preparation of original designs layouts, details, drawings and specifications for structures, buildings, railroads, etc.
• Designs, develops, modifies, and evaluates civil/structural components and processes utilizing relevant Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards and guides (including international), Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs)​ and Design Control Check List (DCCL) and Design Review Notices (DRNs)​.
• Designs structures using advanced knowledge of structural analysis, including three dimensional, statics, dynamics, and materials engineering .
• Determines the appropriate use of various structural elements such as steel, wood, masonry, and concrete to ensure appropriate material is used based on load or stress requirements.
• Originates and checks complex structural engineering deliverables, such as steel and concrete calculations, specifications, and material requisitions.
• Analyses problems with conflicting design requirements, sketches ideas and possible solutions.
• Other responsibilities as designated.

Education and Experience Requirements:

• Requires a bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

• Seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of area of specialization, resolves a wide range of issues in creative ways.
• Design of a wide range of industrial structures including buildings (covered, opened), material handling structures, equipment supporting structures, building and equipment foundations (including piling), retaining walls, etc.
• Design in 3D environment using finite element analyses, dynamic analyses, advanced seismic parameters.
• Design using international codes and standards.
• Design using 3D analysis software (e.g. STAAD.Pro, Strand 7).
• Leading a small design team of engineers and designers.
• Cooperating with other functions (e.g. contracts, procurement) and creating scope of work for service and material requisitions.
• Completing technical evaluations of submitted proposals.
• Preparing discipline material take-offs.
• Interacting with broader project team including other disciplines.
• Working in dynamic environment to reach challenging milestones.
