About the RoleAre you passionate about community safety? As a Community Safety Coordinator, you will lead our client’s Community Safety Officers in enhancing community wellbeing through outreach, education, and enforcement.Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and Support: Guide and support Community Safety Officers to achieve excellent community safety outcomes.
  • Legislative Authority: Enforce regulations under various acts including the Dog & Cat Management Act and Local Nuisance & Litter Control Act.
  • Program Management: Coordinate community safety programs and initiatives.
  • Complex Issues: Act as the go-to for complex issues and complaints.
  • Operational Procedures: Develop and implement procedures and plans.
  • Technical Advice: Provide expert advice on community safety matters.
  • Decision Making: Make informed decisions on complex issues.
  • Budgeting: Assist in preparing section plans and budgets.
  • Legal Representation: Prepare court proceedings and represent the Council as needed.

Qualifications and ExperienceEssential:

  • Current Australian Driver’s License.
  • Significant experience in community safety or regulatory roles.
  • Leadership experience in conflict management and mediation.

Desirable:

  • Qualification in investigations.
  • Conflict resolution training.

Knowledge Requirements

  • Comprehensive knowledge of relevant legislation.
  • Experience in investigations and reporting.
  • Understanding of animal behaviour related to nuisance and aggression.
  • Risk Management principles and clear communication skills.
