The Role

We have a great opportunity for a highly skilled and experienced full-time IT Security Officer to join a talented and busy Information Technology (IT) team. The IT team ensure that outcomes of research and administrative activities at SVI are optimised through the effective use of appropriate information systems.

The IT Security Officer role contributes to the IT objectives by ensuring the security of IT services for all employees, associates and students of SVI.

The responsibilities of the role include:

  • As required, undertaking various information technology security duties, including managing SVI’s GRC requirements include adherence to the NIST Cyber Security Framework
  • Assisting the IT manager in the delivery of SVI’s Cyber Security program
  • Supporting the IT Team in managing existing investments in hardware and software
  • Providing education, advice and training to SVI end users in the competent operation of SVI installed hardware and software.
  • Providing sound consultancy advice to Laboratory Heads and Managers on new and emerging information systems tailored to their work.

To be considered for this role you will have the following qualifications and experience:

Essential:

  • Relevant degree, diploma, cert IV or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated competency in IT Security
  • At least three years’ experience in an IT security role
  • Strong technical aptitude and efficiency in resolving a range of IT issues

Desirable:

  • Hold or working towards a post graduate IT/Cyber qualification
  • Security certification such CRISC, CISSP, CISM, CISA
  • Experience working with a help desk ticketing/incident system
  • Knowledge of Information Security frameworks including NIST and the Essential 8

To be considered you shall be required to provide evidence you have permanent working rights in Australia or hold a relevant working visa to work full-time hours, as well as being fully vaccinated for COVID-19. You will also be asked to undergo a police check.

Salary Range: $100,228 to $116,935 per annum plus 11% superannuation. In addition, we offer up to $15,900 FBT exempt salary packaging and up to $2,650 FBT exempt meals and entertainment packaging. Salary applied will be dependent upon successful candidates’ current level, experience and qualifications.
