About the RoleThe position provides medical services within the ED, but also crucial “on-the-floor” leadership to ED and hospital junior medical staff, i.e.: Interns, Hospital Medical Officers (HMO’s), and International Medical Graduates (IMG’s). This is achieved in conjunction with the Director of Emergency Services and other ED Senior Medical Officers. On site Registrar and Consultant support is provided in General Surgery, General Medicine, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Paediatrics and Anaesthetics.Duties

  • Provide and oversee the provision of medical services in the Emergency Department
  • Support the Nursing Unit Manager and the Director of Critical Care & Emergency Services to manage the emergency department efficiently and effectively to achieve financial and service delivery targets and objectives, including those relating to waiting times and length of stay
  • Provide leadership and support for planning, organisation, coordination and evaluation of emergency department activities
  • Support the provision of ethical practice of emergency medicine within the department
  • Directly supervise and support the medical workforce in the department

About You

  • MBBS or equivalent degree enabling registration with the Medical Board of Australia
  • General Registration with AHPRA or eligible for provisional or limited registration
  • Significant experience providing emergency medicine including experience supporting and training junior medical and clinical staff and undergraduate students

Essential: Experience within Australian Healthcare System
Essential: Australian Medical Council Part 1 (MCQ) for International Medical Graduates only.
Desirable: Australian Medical Council Part 2 (Clinical Examination) for International Medical Graduates only.
Desirable: Previous ED or Medicine experience in Australia
